Coakley’s Restaurant and Irish Pub in New Cumberland to host Penn State benefit

Coakley’s Restaurant and Irish Pub in New Cumberland to host Penn State benefit.

The event will run 5 p.m. to midnight Saturday at the restaurant at 305 Bridge St. Owner Tim Hogg is a 1988 Penn State graduate.

The restaurant is also home to the Capital Area Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association.

Hogg said he created the event “to highlight the good things the students are doing and to highlight, frankly, that people haven’t abandoned the (football) program the way the NCAA had thought they would.”

Ten percent food of sales from the dining event will be donated to The Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, a fundraiser for childhood cancer patients.

In addition, Adam Breneman, senior Cedar Cliff High School tight end who has said he is committed to playing for Penn State, will be at Coakley’s during the event.
