Two of Dubai’s most popular Irish hangouts are mulling ambitious new expansion plans, they have confirmed to 7DAYS.
Local institution The Irish Village has confirmed it is has plans for expansion – but is staying tightlipped on the details of its next move.
Rumours are rife the traditional Irish pub is eyeing the chance to set up an outlet among the skyscrapers of Dubai Marina at the other end of the city from its current home next to The Aviation Club in Al Garhoud.
A spokesperson for the bar, which celebrated its 15th anniversary last year and is affectionately called ‘the IV’, told 7DAYS there is no timeline on the plan.
“As soon as expansion plans are confirmed, media members will be the first to know,” he said.
Fellow Irish bar McGettigans, based at Jumeirah Lakes Towers in Dubai, is also eyeing a new premises, rumoured to be near Dubai International Airport.
However, a spokesperson for the bar would only say yesterday: “We are expanding. But will not make any comments till the doors are fully opened.”
