Those perpetually on the hunt for the area’s best Bloody Mary will want to visit Coakley’s Restaurant & Irish Pub in May.
The New Cumberland restaurant is hosting a Bloody Mary contest among its employees, and the customers are the voters. Beginning the first weekend in May, you can purchase a Bloody Mary flight consisting of four tasting portions crafted by Coakley’s bar staff. The flights will be available Saturdays and Sundays through the month.
Rank the samples with No. 1 being your favorite and No. 4 your least favorite. Samples will vary during the first two weekends, narrowing the choices down to a final four contest the last two weekends in May. The creator of the winning recipe will take home a cash prize.
The contest times perfectly with Coakley’s new Sunday brunch menu. You no longer have to wait for St. Patrick’s Day for Irish breakfast specialties.
The menu includes favorites such as eggs O’Hara ($7.99), three scrambled eggs with sausage, mushrooms, bacon and cheddar, served with home fries and thick toast; corned beef hash ($7.99); and Waterford bacon ($8.99), eggs Benedict served with Canadian bacon and toast.
Brunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays. If you can’t make it for brunch, try your Bloody Mary flight with all-you-can-eat snow crab legs and hush puppies starting at 2 p.m.
