One of the owners of the Tra’Le Irish Pub & Restaurant at Brier Creek in Raleigh has joined with Durham native and food industry veteran Eric Burchfield to open another Irish pub in south Durham called Doolin’s Irish Pub & Cafe.
Located in the SouthCourt building near the intersection of Shannon Road and University Drive, Doolin’s opened the day before St. Patrick’s Day, Burchfield says.
Burchfield’s partner in the restaurant is Robert Beebe, who is also co-owner of the Tra’Le Irish Pub in the Brierdale shopping center near Brier Creek. Much of the decor and some menu items mirror what’s worked at Tra’Le, he says.
Doolin’s, which is named after the Irish coastal village in County Claire, even recruited Tra’Le’s weekend chef, Brian George, to develop its menu of traditional Irish fare.
The 2,200-square-foot restaurant seats about 70 people inside, and Burchfield, who formerly was a catering director at the Washington Duke Inn and most recently a territory director for a food distribution company, says Doolin’s will soon be opening an outside patio to seat another 30 people.
