Molly McGarry, who owns Uisce Irish Pub, 1319 Commercial St., with her husband, Dave Rooney, is super-animated when she talks about this Saturday’s annual day of Irish celebration. She says she has “some big stuff lined up” for St. Patrick’s Day.
She says the pub will open early – at 11 a.m. – so people can come in and meet up before the St. Patrick’s Day parade, which starts at noon. She adds that they “hope to get as many people to come back to Uisce with us after the parade ends.” There will be Irish music all day, starting with Peadar Macmahon at 2 p.m., followed by Derek Duffy at 4 p.m. and pub favorite Maggie’s Fury from 7 p.m. to midnight. Molly that bagpipers and dancers also will perform throughout the day. Cover is $5.
In addition, she says, Man Pies is making special Irish pies for Uisce and will have them for sale at the pub.
Molly and Dave met in New York City almost 10 years ago. Dave is originally from Dublin, Ireland, and Molly is from San Francisco. They opened the pub in 2006. In case you aren’t sure how to say the name of this friendly spot, it’s pronounced ish-kah.
