The Irish pub Dublin O’Neil’s officially opened in downtown Champaign last week and neighboring restaurant 301 Mongolia is expected to open this week.
“We’re definitely a comforting, homey place with pub atmosphere: exposed brick walls, a cobblestone entry way,” said Joshua Huddleston, executive chef of Dublin O’Neil’s.
Located on the ground floor of the M2 building, 301 N. Neil St., the pub’s food menu features grass-fed beef, Amish-raised chicken and other locally-sourced food. Dishes include shepherds’ pie, fish and chips, bangers and mash, chicken pot pies and more.
“The pub burger has a nice spice kick to it. It’s hand-pattied,” Huddleston said.
Over 80 bottles of beer are available, with 16 different beers on tap, including five Irish beers. Seasonal microbrews will also be featured on tap. In addition to the beer, there are 25 Irish whiskeys to choose from.
In the future the pub will host live Irish session bands, according to Huddleston.
The pub serves food from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily and can be reached at 531-1152.
