In less than two weeks, millions of Guinness fans around the world will come together on Arthur’s Day, Thursday, 22 September to raise a toast ‘To Arthur’ to commemorate the life and legacy of the man who gave Guinness to the world.
Arthur’s Day returns to Cork this year with an unrivalled lineup of acts, Irish and international, playing in venues throughout the city. An exciting mix of international and Irish talent will hit the Savoy Theatre including Seasick Steve, The Divine Comedy, Wretch 32, Bressie
and Caral Barât.
Paolo Nutini, The Feeling, Kelis, The Charlatans, The Divine Comedy (Neil Hannon solo), Fight Like Apes, Bell X1 and Carl Barât are the latest additions to the already impressive line up of artists set to perform in the intimate surroundings of select pubs and venues across the island of Ireland on Arthur’s Day. As well as playing in the bigger venues, each of the studio artists will also turn up in a pub for a surprise performance on the night!
Now in its third year, the Arthur’s Day celebrations have proven popular. The date will be marked by a series of high-profile events and celebrations across Ireland and in 40 countries around the world including Italy, Germany, Spain, Malaysia and Australia to honour the remarkable life and legacy of Arthur Guinness – the philanthropist and founder of Guinness.
The day has also developed a charity element. Guinness fans with smartphones are invited to ‘Check In’ via Facebook whilst in the pub on Arthur’s Day. For every ‘Check In’ to a pub using Facebook places, Guinness will donate €5 to the Arthur Guinness Fund up to a maximum of €500,000.

Tickets are priced at just €15 for studio venues and €7.50 for the pub venues plus booking fee with all ticket proceeds directly benefiting the Arthur Guinness Fund.
Arthur’s Day celebrations will be broadcast live on Sky’s Pub Channel (Channel 881) from 5.50pm to 6.20pm, which will capture the toast ‘To Arthur’ at 17:59 from St James’s Gate Brewery and also some interviews and live music performance from a star studded line up of artists.
RTÉ will also broadcast an hour-long Arthur’s Day Highlights 2011 TV show starting at 10.45pm on the night from Dublin’s Olympia Theatre and Hopstore 13 venue at the heart of St James’s Gate Brewery. Presented by Rick Edwards and Laura Whitmore, expect, performances and interviews from some of the world’s most renowned music stars including Scissor Sisters, Stereophonics, Aloe Blacc, Yasmin, Ed Sheeran and other special guests.
