Legend says that if you kiss the Blarney Stone in Ireland, you will receive the gift of persuasion and eloquent speech. If you eat at the new Blarney Stone Irish Pub and Eatery in Trinity, the delicious food may just leave you speechless.
Owner John Egan, a native of County Mayo, Ireland, is a veteran restaurateur. He is best known as the founder of Peggy O’Neill’s Irish Pub & Eatery located in Palm Harbor and Oldsmar. He sold Peggy O’Neill’s last May and opened the Blarney Stone on June 11.
As a young man, Egan formed a show band called John Egan and the Irish Tradewinds.
“I always wanted my own Pub.” said Egan. “From traveling all over the country as a musician, I decided to open up my own place.”
The Blarney Stone property was formerly occupied by the Trinity Grill restaurant. Egan and his partner, Mike Carmella, have remodeled it to capture the spirit and soul of a genuine Irish pub. The bar, green walls, waitresses dressed in plaid and examples of Irish folklore capture the spirit of Ireland. The restaurant has 192 seats, including an outside patio.
“I always liked this spot.” said Egan. There were other locations I considered, but I knew this was right.”
The menu is loaded with authentic Irish dishes such as bangers and bash, shepherd’s pie, fish and chips, Shannon’s Salmon, the Irish mixed grill and, of course, corned beef and cabbage. There is also an assortment of appetizers, burgers, homemade soups, salads, wings, and desserts.
The restaurant’s full liquor bar boasts 10 different beers on draft.
A DJ performs on Thursday nights, and live bands on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
Egan says only one thing is missing.
“I am looking for the perfect ‘Blarney Stone’ to display in the restaurant” said Egan. “This way, my customers can kiss the Blarney Stone when they leave, and receive the precious gift of eloquent speech each time they eat or drink here.”
