Irish Pubs Global braved the cold winter air and made it down to The Porterhouse in the Financial District of Manhattan last night. What greeted us was a pub like no other on the island. Situated in the restored Fraunces Tavern, where Washington gave his farewell address to the officers of the Continental Army in 1783, The Porterhouse Brewing Co has spared no expense in the installment of its latest venture.
There are two bars stocked with tons of European and American beers and patrons are also treated to a small whiskey bar just inside the main door. Bespoke furniture made from old Singer sewing machines and large rustic, very stylish wooden benches and stools give the place a high quality feel.
The restaurant, which doesn’t open until Monday 24th January promises to be a treat; chefs were already in the kitchen perfecting the menu while Irish Pubs Global got a tour around the pub with Oliver Hughes, one of the owners. Ideal for parties and work gatherings, the restaurant will no doubt be very busy on weeknights due to its location in the bustling Financial District.
The Porterhouse Brewing Company at Fraunces Tavern opens from 3pm to 4am, everyday. Food will be served from Monday 24th January.
